![]() ![]() Though as a solo player, you will never really see the best the combat system has to offer. In addition to this, the combat content just gets better as it goes on. Most players are fine with this since level cap is kind of the main experience but it's definitely a shame for people starting the game new. This resulted in them feeling better at level cap but at the cost of them having like half of what they used to be able to do at lower levels. ![]() There's a few reasons for this but the biggest one is that as more expansions came out and more levels/skills added, jobs would get bloated and convoluted, so at some point they all underwent a rework that simplified things and removed bloat. Not a solo player but have played the game for a decade now, so I have a comment or two.įirst off, yeah the combat is pretty simple at early levels. Make sure you do them every 5 levels, they not only give free gear, but unlock essential skills and abilities for your job. There's a new quest every 5 levels at your job's guild (gladiator, conjuror, etc.). Tied with the two above, because of the generous EXP, you will shoot past the level cap for where you are in the main story, don't feel obligated to buy gear beyond where you are in the main story Game is very generous with giving you free gear via the main story and dungeons, so don't buy too much off market board, it's overpriced. ![]() Game is super generous with EXP, you can literally level 2 jobs to 50 and beyond with what you get from A Real Reborn. There is also a side story content that is now required before starting Heavensward, a series of big dungeons for 24 people. You have to use the duty finder, but again it works great. I think you still have to do trial fights with a group of real people (basically boss only fights). They've added a system where all the story dungeons from A Realm Reborn and Heavensward can be done with a team of NPCs, and if you choose to go with real people, the duty finder works great to queue people together for a dungeon. There are some segments where it drags a bit, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.Īs for soloing, it's perfectly fine. Realm Reborn isn't bad so much as it gets better with expansions. What am I in for? For any solo players, how has your experience been? Any general tips, classes I should go for, particular side quests or activities I shouldn't miss? That can't have been easy to pull off for something with huge volumes of translated text.Īnd apparently the Realm Reborn content is substantially worse than the expansions? I'm already addicted. I'm shocked by how good the writing quality is, in general. The world building is already interesting, the story is clearly a slow burn but still intriguing, the NPC dialogue bits give that Final Fantasy feeling in spades, the music is both diverse and consistently excellent, there's been literally no grinding so far, and I've had good experiences the few times I've dabbled in side quests. Other than that, I love or like pretty much everything else. Will this get better as a pure solo player? Should I be taking a different approach to things, somehow, like going with a different class? ![]() I guess this is partially my fault, having no desire to party up with anyone, but it still feels really shallow and repetitive it's certainly not a lick on the full-party-control FFs. I went in hoping for a good Final Fantasy, and that's pretty much what I've gotten.īefore getting into the things I like, I'll say that I'm not a huge fan of the combat. Maybe halfway through? I'm a paladin (formerly a gladiator), and haven't interacted with a single person so far. I'm disgusted because those people were completely correct, I really don't have the time to play this, and yet part of me wants to abandon every other responsibility in my life to play this damn game.įor context, I'm still in the base Realm Reborn content. I decided to play the free trial on PS5, because some people said that the game works pretty well as a solo, very FF-ish experience. ![]()
